Kylea Taylor is a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC# 34901). She earned a Master of Science degree from San Jose State University, San Jose, CA in Marriage, Child, and Family Counseling. She has worked as a counselor in the addictions and trauma recovery field since 1970 and was the executive director of a community counseling program for sixteen years.
Kylea Taylor has been studying the theory and practice of therapeutic work with clients in non-ordinary states of consciousness with Stanislav and Christina Grof since 1984. After completing the Grofs' first three-year training program in the United States, she was certified as a Holotropic Breathwork™ Practitioner.
Kylea has assisted Stanislav Grof in facilitating large group Holotropic Breathwork workshops and trainings both in the United States and in other countries. She has also facilitated at nine of the week-long Insight and Opening retreats, led jointly by Stanislav Grof and Jack Kornfield and combining Buddhist Vipassana meditation and Holotropic Breathwork experiences. She has facilitated Holotropic Breathwork for thousands of participants.
Kylea has been a staff trainer for the Grof Transpersonal Training, Mill Valley, CA since 1993. She is Vice-President of the Association for Holotropic Breathwork International and has been the Editor of its newsletter, The Inner Door, since 1991. She lives on the central coast of California, where she has a private therapy and consulting practice. She has written numerous articles and taught in the USA and Europe.
Kylea Taylor has extensive personal and professional experience with addiction, post traumatic stress recovery, women's issues, and spiritual emergency. Her study of yoga beginning in the 70's began her enduring interest in the interface between psychological, physical, social, and spiritual aspects of ourselves. She is particularly interested in the effects of rapid spiritual development associated with nonordinary states of consciousness or the dying/grieving process.
Kylea is the author of The Breathwork Experience" and The Ethics of Caring (also published in German as Hilfe fur die Helfer), The Holotropic Breathwork Workshop Manual, and is the editor of Exploring Holotropic Breathwork.
